Climate Studies
Specialized studies of local climate for the purpose of predicting, defining and analyzing unique conditions for clients have always been an integral part of Weather Command’s client services. The diverse studies listed below represent only a portion of the services Weather Command can provide.
- Wind and aviation weather analyses for new airports and for proposed expansions to existing airports
- Prediction of emergence date of the endangered Hine’s Emerald Dragonfly based on temperature and precipitation data for a Chicago-area engineering firm
- Point precipitation estimates using NEXRAD Doppler radar and surface rain gauges during Hurricanes Bertha and Fran
- Freezing precipitation analyses for Duluth, Green Bay, Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Memphis
- Wet bulb depression analyses for Moline, Chicago, and South Bend
- SFC - 200 feet wind study to determine the placement and feasibility of wind turbine generation
