Case Study #2 for Meteorological Equipment
Installation of Meteorological Monitoring Tower for Fossil Fuel Burning Electric Plant
A fossil fuel electric generating facility needed to document meteorological conditions near the plant in order to receive a permit to make modifications to the plant. The utility asked Murray and Trettel to install meteorological monitoring equipment on a 10 meter tower. The parameters measured included wind speed, wind direction, change in temperature with height (delta T), solar radiation, barometric pressure and precipitation.
Our professional staff provided the utility with a Quality Assurance Manual for the meteorological monitoring site. We collected and reviewed the data from the site on a routine basis via modem. We produced monthly reports and data in the proper format for modeling software. Semi-annual calibrations were performed. State environmental department’s concerns were answered.
